La Veduta (the View) is a panoramic area near the old village of Compignano. It is just midway between the city of Lucca (about 20 minutes by car) and Viareggio (you can reach the sea in less than 30 minutes by car). The village is perched on the top of a hill which is part of Monte Quiesa; this mountain divides Lucca plain from the Versilia coast.

From here the view overlooks Pisa (30 minutes), the Massaciuccoli lake and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The breath-taking landscape is really unique. Weather permitting, you can also see the Gorgona island and the Corsica. This place offers an absolute quiet and the guests can relax enjoying the Tuscan countryside. They also can reach art cities and sea in a few minutes by car.

Both houses are plunged into nature: gardens surround them and the owners cultivate olive-groves and vineyards in the Compignano area (they produce olive-oil and red wine).
The nearness of the sea makes the climate temperate and the position exposed to the sun contributes to the growth of various flowers and plants and the outburst of colours and sweet smells, typical of countryside.

It’s possible to make excursions and take a walk through vineyards, olive-groves and woods.
Tuscan Farmhouses proposes these houses that are part of a building group: at first they were farmers’ houses and were annexed to a fifteenth-century villa (today known as Villa Hernandez). Formerly it belonged to gentlemen of Lucca and was their summer residence.

The Compignano village beats a great historical heritage. The Via Cassa Traversa, an ancient road of the Roman Era, passed through this area.
Near (about 150 metres away) there’s a manor Villa of the eighteenth century. Formerly it belonged to the Princess Elisa Baciocchi Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister, Mistress of Lucca and Countess of Compignano.

Also Princess Paolina Bonaparte lived here for a short period, during Napoleon’s exile in the Island of Elba. |
